Urinary Incontinence & Leaking Treatment in Calgary

Leaking when you cough, run, or laugh is common, but it is not something you have to accept. Pelvic floor physiotherapy at Coven Health Collective helps you get control back.

What Causes Urinary Incontinence and Leaking?

Incontinence happens when the muscles and connective tissue that support your bladder and urethra are not doing their job at the right moment. That can mean muscles that are weak, muscles that are too tense to relax and let go, poor coordination with your breath and core, or pressure that is being managed badly through your abdomen.

There are a few common patterns. Stress incontinence is leaking with pressure, so coughing, sneezing, lifting, or jumping. Urge incontinence is a sudden need to go that you cannot delay. Many people have a mix of both. Assessment tells us which one you are dealing with, because the treatment plan is different for each.

Who We Help

Leaking With Exercise or Coughing

Urine escaping when you run, lift, sneeze, or laugh usually points to a timing and strength problem rather than a bladder problem. We retrain how your pelvic floor responds to pressure so it holds when you need it to.

Urgency and Frequent Trips to the Bathroom

If you are mapping every washroom on your route or getting up several times a night, we look at bladder habits, fluid patterns, muscle tension, and calming strategies that reduce false urgency signals.

Postpartum Leaking

Pregnancy and delivery change how your pelvic floor and deep core work together. Leaking in the weeks and months after birth is common and it responds well to guided rehab, whether you gave birth recently or years ago.

Leaking in Perimenopause and Menopause

Hormonal changes affect tissue quality, strength, and bladder sensitivity. Treatment focuses on building strength and coordination while addressing the habits that make symptoms worse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Kegels enough to fix leaking?

Not always. For some people the pelvic floor is already too tense, and more squeezing makes symptoms worse. An assessment shows what your muscles are actually doing so you get the right plan.

How long until I notice a difference?

Many people notice change within a few weeks of consistent work, though the full plan often runs longer depending on your goals and how long symptoms have been present.

Do I need an internal exam?

No. An internal assessment gives us useful information, but it is always your choice, and we can work effectively with external assessment alone.

Do you do direct billing?

We do not direct bill.

After your appointment and payment has been made, an email with a receipt will be sent to the email on your patient profile. These receipts can be submitted to most insurance companies online.

Lose your receipt? No worries!! We can send that over to you anytime upon request.
