Acupuncture in Calgary

At Coven Health, acupuncture is integrated into a modern, patient centered approach to recovery and wellness. Our team combines traditional acupuncture principles with current clinical knowledge to help you reduce pain, restore balance, and move forward with confidence.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These points stimulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.

Many people associate acupuncture with traditional Chinese medicine, and while it has been practiced for thousands of years, modern research continues to show how acupuncture can influence:

Pain modulation

Muscle tension

Nervous system regulation

Circulation and tissue healing

Stress and hormonal balance

Massage Therapy

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

While acupuncture is one of the primary treatments used in our clinic, Dr. Shannon Smith also integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) guidance when appropriate, including lifestyle recommendations and Chinese herbal support.

Chinese herbal medicine may be used in certain situations to complement acupuncture treatments and support the body’s natural healing processes. These herbal formulas are carefully selected based on your individual health patterns and goals.

For most patients, acupuncture remains the central treatment, with TCM principles and herbal guidance serving as supportive tools to enhance overall results.
